Top songs I listened to on-repeat, and jammed out to for the month of April & May 2023!
Hello! I am back again with another installment of my top favorite songs for the month. These are songs I have listened to on-repeat this month (and last month, and maybe even the month before since I havenât written this entry for a while). If any of them sound interesting, definitely check them out!
1. Nobody by Avenged Sevenfold
After years of no music, their last album released in 2016, and last concert in 2018, Avenged Sevenfold finally dropped a new song. As soon as I saw the teaser tweets, I knew this song was gonna be a solid banger. âNobodyâ dropped on March 14th and I can vividly remember the first time I listened to it that day with my headphones. The riffs, clock ticking intro, & honestly wild lyrics immediately drew me in. I can already tell this will be my most listened to song of 2023 when Spotify Wrapped drops at the end of the year.Â

In Avenged Sevenfoldâs latest TRAX podcast episode, the members discussed that they all individually did a round of 5-MeO-DMT, a very powerful psychedelic drug, and that the album includes the experiences they faced as they left their bodies & came back. With lyrics such as âAll I ever was, has been and always will be⊠nobodyâ and âI ascend and leave behind the âused to beâ and tear the fabric worn to cover my eyesâ, the album definitely takes an existential turn of what are we without our experiences, knowledge or life, and if my life ends, what do I have? Itâs interesting & I am very glad they reluctantly decided this song as their lead single. They didnât even want to release a single, but dropping a full album with no warning doesnât yield the best ratings & sales, so âNobodyâ was the best bet.
Definitely prepare for a âLife Is But A Dream..â album review & concert review since the album drops soon, and their next concert is June 9th which I will be attending!
2. Skyscraper by NCT 127
I of course had to include an NCT 127 song on my list for most listened to songs. âSkyscraperâ dropped on NCT 127âs 2 Baddies album repackage titled Ay-Yo released in January 2023. A repackage album is basically a deluxe version of the album with a few new tracks & a new theme in the album photobook and inclusions. Along with âTime Lapseâ, and âDesignerâ, âSkyscraperâ is one of the best songs from this album release.Â
I mainly love this song because of Taeilâs honey vocals and ad-libs throughout the whole song. His voice really ties all their songs together like a perfect little bow. Can you tell Taeil is my favorite member? Overall, itâs the perfect summer song to dance to, especially with lyrics âstep up break the roof with my whole crew.â If NCT were touring right now, this is a song I would want to hear multiple times on the setlist, and dance it out to.
3. Name In Lights by BANNERS
Itâs not a favorite song of the month blog post without a BANNERS release. âName In Lightsâ was released only a few days ago on May 26th. Mike has sung this song many times during his Instagram lives, so I already knew a few lyrics before the song drops. This song goes in the encouragement category of BANNERSâ discography and itâs honestly one of my favorite categories. With lyrics such as âjust be yourself, and youâre gonna shineâ and âit doesnât matter what you do, just make it real and just make it true,â itâs very encouraging and sometimes people forget these sentiments so itâs always good to be reminded. I love all his songs with these sentiments, so Iâll always accept them with open arms and ears for joyous listening. A review and category breakdown on BANNERS entire discography is coming soon, so prepare for that too!
I hope you enjoyed my favorite songs of the month! I usually choose five songs for my monthly post, but itâs better to have three great options I can talk all day about, than five options just to make a complete post.
